Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. She relocated to Oxfordshire at the age of five where she attended the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. When she was 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes in acting, singing and dance. As early as age ten, she took part and played the leading role in several Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie version from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for first time in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, the producer David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast to play the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. This film was 2001's highest grossing film, breaking records on opening day and first weekend. The critics were impressed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Later Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film and was awarded her the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film.
